Some things I would like to share with you.
1. Public transportation in Sweden just works . In every bus station you can find a schedule and if it says there that the bus will arrive 13:03, then you can be sure the bus will be there at 13:03.
Of course there are exceptions. Let’s say you have to go to work from town A to town C, and to get to town C you have to change the train in town B. The trip from town A to town C is 1hour. Let’s say you arrive from town A to town B, you get off the train and wait for the train that gets you to town C.
You waited for 20 minutes for this last train, you realize that you might be late for work, so you take a cab for the rest of the trip. You send then the taxi receipt to the public transportation company by mail, and guess what? you will receive the money you spent on the taxi back.
2. There is a big discussion in Sweden these days, you’ve heard, for sure, of the “sin taxes” applied for cigarettes and alcohol, that discourages the consumption of these items. In Sweden they are about to approve a tax for unhealthy food. It has been proposed that taxes should be removed from healthy fruits and vegetables and increased for what is considered unhealthy food.
3. Here is a tool Swedes cannot survive without
, and I shocked some people when cutting the cheese with a knife.
I think that tool is very useful indeed. I passed out once, cutting my finger very ugly and losing to much blood, while I was trying to get small pieces from a very big piece of cheese.
You have a…”question-game” (“leapsa” I do not know the word in english and I couldn’t find it in dictionary) when you have the time to answer. That’s no hurry! Still, i have something to ask. Please pass it to your mom. I believe she has some interesting answers for us…:)
Kami, can you please replace me with my mum?
) . I’ve played it once with the books and decided at that point is the first and last one.
Thank you Kami. I have been trying to convince Cre that it is a marvelous tool and that she should learn how to use it. I don’t think she listens to me though because I always see her with a big butcher knife slicing away in the kitchen with that poor cheese screaming for help. At least now I know there are some rational thoughts originating from Romania. Keep influencing my dear Cre and perhaps she will come around and leave the dark side to join the enlightened one.
What ?!
Why did you shock them by cutting cheese with a knife =)) ?
A few years ago I came to Stockholm in a 2-week trip and someone told me that I could buy a monthly ticket to travel by bus and by underground, as it was cheaper than to buy a daily one. That lady told me that when I was to leave Sweden I could give that ticket back, show my passport and get my money back for the remaining days…I wondered if it was really true, as it sounded a bit SF for my Romanian ears! Well, on my way to the airport, I stopped to T-Centralen and went to the first ticket office. To my great surprise, the guy gave me my money back and wished me to come back to Sweden soon! So, long live Sweedish people! I was really impressed by their common sense and respect for human beings…
@Cre – There will be no problemm not answering the game, as I wrote on my blog…on one condition (am I a sales person, or what “give some-win some
My condition: Try to use that tool…:)
I will add mom’s link in my blogroll and I will pass the game to her. I would really like to read her answer
Have a nice weekend and do not forget “the tool”.
